First as to brother Clark he has formerly Resided in this part of the Country and is acquainted with the Majority of the inhabitants out of which naturaly A Desire grows for their welfare second he was the instrument in the hand of god in planting the branch at Newark and can tend it best. third and last though not least the Branch here unanimously Desire it.
Now as to Brother Dykes he has been tried here and not found wanting instant in season and out of season in all wisdom doing his masters work in such A manner that he was gaining the hearts of the children of men and one old Lady in our meeting when the vote was taken held voted twice. he was the Means in gods hand of doing much good in this part of the Country
First Great Reason why we ask for them is because we know them and they know us and we have Confidence in each other. second we belive them witting will[i]ng to Come
third though you might send good men as you have done and we are thankful for the same such as [Harvey] Green &c yet if you send these we shall be gratified and those that hear them Edified. and no blame to you but truly sometimes were we are Imposed upon yours in the Covenant
