Neibaur, Alexander

8 Jan. 1808–15 Dec. 1883. Dentist, teacher, match manufacturer. Born in Ehrenbreitstein, Prussia (later in Germany). Son of Nathan Neibaur and Rebecca Peretz Samuel. Member of Jewish faith and educated to become a Rabbi. Attended University of Berlin as student of dentistry, 1822–1825. Moved to Preston, Lancashire, England, 1830, and set up a dental practice. Married Ellen Breckell, 16 Sept. 1834, in Chorley, Lancashire. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Isaac Russell, 9 Apr. 1838, in Preston. Migrated to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois, 18 Apr. 1841. Labored on Nauvoo House and Nauvoo temple. Ordained an elder by Willard Richards, 18 Jan. 1843; ordained a seventy, 1844. Moved to Iowa Territory, Sept. 1846. Moved to Winter Quarters, unorganized U.S. territory (later in Omaha, Douglas Co., Nebraska), summer 1847. Arrived in Salt Lake Valley, 24 Sept. 1848. Died in Salt Lake City.
