Biography
5 Apr. 1805–21 Oct. 1889. Shoemaker, manufacturer, farmer. Born in Washington Co., New York. Son of Andrew Winters and Hannah Wood. Moved to Seneca Co., New York. Moved to Jamestown, Chautauque Co., New York, by 1824. Married Rebecca Burdick, in Jamestown. Moved to Ellicot, Chautauque Co., by 1830. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, June 1833, in New York. Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, fall 1833. Participated in Camp of Israel expedition to Missouri, 1834. Ordained a seventy, 28 Feb. 1835. Served mission to New York, spring 1835. Appointed counselor to Bishop Thomas Burdick, 22 May 1841, in Kirtland. Moved to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois, 1845. Ordained a high priest, by Feb. 1846. Moved to Henderson Co., Illinois, by 1850. Moved to Kanesville (later Council Bluffs), Pottawattamie Co., Iowa, 1851. Migrated to Salt Lake Valley, Oct. 1852. Moved to Pleasant Grove, Utah Co., Utah Territory, by 1860. Elected as city councilman in Pleasant Grove, 1879. Died in Pleasant Grove.
