7 Sept. 1804–21 July 1887. Born at Ovid, Seneca Co., New York. Son of John Coltrin and Sarah Graham. Member of Methodist church. Married first Julia Ann Jennings, Oct. 1828. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Solomon Hancock, 9 Jan. 1831, at Strongsville, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio. Ordained an elder by John Whitmer, 21 Jan. 1831. Served mission to Missouri with Levi Hancock, summer 1831. Appointed to serve mission to Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, Jan. 1832. Ordained a high priest by Hyrum Smith and Reynolds Cahoon, 27 July 1832, at Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio. Attended organizational meeting of School of the Prophets, 22–23 Jan. 1833, in Kirtland. Appointed to serve mission with John Murdock to Thompson, Geauga Co., and eastern states, 23 Mar. 1833. Appointed to serve mission with Henry Harriman to Canada, 20 Feb. 1834. Participated in Camp of Israel expedition to Missouri, 1834. Appointed a president of First Quorum of the Seventy, 28 Feb. 1835, at Kirtland. Stockholder in Kirtland Safety Society. Reassigned from Seventy to high priests quorum, 6 Apr. 1837. Located at Commerce (later Nauvoo), Hancock Co., Illinois, 1839, but soon after moved to Kirtland. Wife died, 1841. Appointed second counselor to Almon W. Babbitt in Kirtland stake, 22 May 1841. Married second Mary Mott, 5 Feb. 1843. Received into Nauvoo stake high priests quorum, 4 June 1843. Migrated to Salt Lake Valley with Brigham Young pioneer company, 1847. Settled at Spanish Fork, Utah Co., Utah Territory, 1852. Died at Spanish Fork.
