Know all men by these presents that we , and are held and firmly bound unto in the penal sum of two hundred and twenty two dollars lawful money of the for the payment of which well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves our heirs and administrators jointly severaly and firmly by these presents Witness our hands and seals this 29th day of March 1843.

The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas , on the 10th day of March 1843 did, before me Joseph Smith, mayor, of the city of , recover a Jud[ge]ment against the above bounden for the sum of ninety nine dollars damages and eleven dollars ⁵⁹/₁₀₀ Costs: from which Judgment the said has taken an Appeal to the Municipal Court of the said city of . Now if the said shall prosecute his appeal in the said Municipal Court, with effect and shall pay whatever Judgment may be rendered by the said Court upon dismissal or trial of said appeal, then this obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full force and effect—
