<Sunday Augt. 20.> I was at home all day. My brother preached. at the , and read a copy of a letter to show the people that he was not guilty of treachery.

<Monday 21st> I received a letter from covering one from Mr J Hall of , <Mo.> breathing hard things against us as a people. I gave instruction to have them copied with some additional remarks, and sent to . The following is a copy: <of the letter with the comment of the Neighbor thereon> (See page 66 Neighbor <ending “Concealed”>.)
Rode out with Mr Moore, and in <the> afternoon held Mayor’s Court and tried for breach of temperance ordinance. Fined him $3 and costs.

<Fr 25> My brother in the office— We conversed upon the new Revelation. ¶ Rain in gentle showers thro the day, being the first of much <any—> amount that has fallen since the 1st of June in . The earth has been exceedingly dry, and the early Potatoe nearly destroyed; Corn has been stunted in its growth & even vines much injured by <the> drouth
